Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park

Right on the door step of Koh Samui is the Mu Ko Ang Thong National Park. The 42 limestone islands contained in the 102 square kilometre park make up just 18 square kilometres. The islands themselves also have many interesting activities. Wua Talap Island is home to the National Park headquarter along with the Buo Bok Caves with its many interesting stalagmite and stalactite formations.

Mae Ko Island has a beautiful inland lake that is surrounded by mountains. The inland lake is connected to the outside sea via a large underwater hole. Angthong marine Park is also a popular place to dive as it is home to many fish species and coral developments.

Scuba diving tours can be arranged through several places in Koh Samui while accommodation in the Marine park can be booked through their website. The National Park is closed for rehabilitation from the 1st of November to December 23rd each year. This is due to the unsafe travel conditions during the monsoon season.
